Fractured Memories

It their game, a simple game they’ve always played as kids, the game of Hide & Seek, they've meet at a young age when Kiyo was six as he was visiting the woods and followed the sounds of crying and found a girl who scraped her knee that bleed, to heal her wound Kiyo kneeled to lick her knee, incidentally as he did so it had her to stop crying, Kiyo smiled to her and used a handkerchief to wrap the knee, when she asked him why he licked her wound Kiyo said: “saliva is the best way of curing this kind of wound since I don’t have any disinfecting spray.” But Kiyo did realize what he had done until he found that he sprouted cat ears and a tail but he wasn’t bothered by this, “cool,” he said while touching his neko parts, this girl is a neko herself and by taking in her blood it had turned Kiyo into one but the girl seemed very happy about this turn of evens, “I’m not the only one anymore, I not alone,” she said.

Since that day Kiyo and the neko girl have been close friends and played their favorite game of Hide & Seek everyday, they were inseparable as if they were joined at the hip growing up together while remaining at each others side, it was said that the two would someday become more then friends but sadly fate had come between the two. Kiyo’s father had lost his job work in the store and had to find work in the city, but before they had to part Kiyo made a promise that he’ll come back for her someday but all she asked of him was to never forget about her, but how can he, and yet sadly… he did. The nine years apart from her Kiyo slowly become human and lost all memories of her over the years, but there bond was too strong that he was compiled to keep his promise, he didn’t know why he was compile to return to his home town after nine years but he had this feeling deep down inside.



Now nineteen years old Kiyo has grown into a fine Youngman where hardly anyone knew it was him until he said his name, but pasting by and say hi to everyone Kiyo was getting the cold should from a lot of people, only a few were kind enough to say hello but still… Kiyo didn’t seem welcome here. On a long road he’d walked Kiyo set out to visit his grandmother who was still living in this area, he thought maybe this was why he came back, to visit his grandma and yet there was this feeling he was looking for someone but he could think to whom. On his way he’d came across a wild field with tall grass, “I remember this place, I use to play in this field,” then came some flash back of a girl as he started to remember someone in his life but just couldn’t quite remember, for now he shock it off and continued walking. But then he’d heard the sound of purring, he looked to the field and saw a cats tail swinging around happily, at first he’d thought it was just a cat play and hiding in the tall grass until he was pounced by a girl.

OOC: He will be a little mean to her since Kiyo doesn’t remember her, there’s a mystery and adventure to this story so I hope you have fun.

The sunlight went through the window of a young neko girls window she had long silver hair and something rather unique cat ears which were black. She stirred waking from the light which hit her eyes.
"mmm it's morning already?"she said feeling sleepy feeling the warm sun on her skin she felt like just laying there but she had to go to her part time job, she was thankful today was a weekend though it gave her time to relax in the field where the flowers were where she could day dream all day long and take a nice nap in the sun.

She forced herself out of bed stretching with a small mew as she washed her face and put on her thin black dress that she wore when not attending school and put on some boots that went to her knees . She walked out of the small empty house and ran to wards her job where she went to work at the small Inn that she helped do chores they paid her extra than the others since her parents passed away due to an unknown illness.
"My your early Hikari "said the innkeeper his name was Soshi and had a nice wife named Anna both were a adorable couple.
"Yes the sun woke me up today , so what do you need done today?"Hikari asked with enthusiasm as they gave her instructions on what to do, Hikari did her job quickly but very well done they paid her for the day as she waved to them,

Hikari than smelled for food looking at the bakery and rubbed her stomach.
"I suppose I'll save it for dinner thats when they have that yummy French bread"She says and runs off to wards the fields that she always went to every day as she laid down on the grass that had many flowers she looked up at the sky closing her eyes, thinking about Kiyo when they were just children.
Will you come back for me Kiyo...like you promised???
She wondered sadly as she remembered the day she met she remember running around and ended up falling hurting her knee and she started crying she was a big crybaby when she was younger because most the time people called her a freak, but when she saw Kiyo get ears and a tail she felt safe and secure knowing she wasn't the only one.
But I was born like this...
Hikari thought to herself as she closed her eyes feeling the sunlight against her as she sighed content .

Some noise stirred her awake as she looked at a butterfly that landed on her noes she got that natural cat instinct in her and got on all fours letting out a purring noise as she swats at the butterfly as it flies away , her ears perk as she hears someone walking she pops her head just a little seeing he looked very different
Kiyo! her mind bounced happily as she got so excited her tail began to sway as she than pounced the guy holding onto him.
"Kiyo your back!!"She exclaimed happily and began nuzzling him happily.

Kiyo didn’t know just who this girl is but he’d notice she seems to know him, yet he felt uncomfortable as she cuddle after pouncing him to the ground, “h-hey… n-no stop that, hey… I said stop… off.” He pulled himself away and stud up to brush the dust and dirt off his clothes, “a simple hello or hand shake would do, or this is how everyone greets each other now a days, by tackling people to the ground?” Kiyo sighed heavily and shook his head, looking to the girl who pounced him he dimmed his eyes when noticing her cat ears and tail, “hmmm… is this in fashion this season, it’s much too early for Holloween or is this some sort of cosplay?”

OOC: If I squint my eyes it doesn’t look fake *chuckle*

Hikari was startled by voice it sounded angry as she looked at him as he pushed her off of him as he dusted himself off she stayed on the ground her ears lowerd as she looked at the ground.
'H-he can't remember me...he doesn't...'Hikari looked up at him sadly her eyes almost to the point of watering for nine long years she's been waiting for him and he doesn't remember her! Hikari dusted herself off too.

When he said she was displaying cosplay sehe frowned at him as she looked at him as her tail flickered. She held out her hand to me.
"Kiyo, It's me Hikari you don't remember me?? We always' used to play when we were children..."Hikari said looking at him sincerly but also hurt cause she knew he didn't remember.

Kiyo look very confused from Hikari expression as she looked sadly at him, the sight of her eyes made him want to take back his words, he’d thought she took this coplay very seriously, “sorry… okay you look like Neko if I squint my eye’s, in fact you do look like a real Nekogirl,” he notice and looked closely, “no way… she tail looks too real,” he said to himself. Kiyo tried to remember, really he did when Hikari said they used to play when we were little kids, “I’m very sorry but I don’t remember you, but don’t feel so bad I hardy remember my own childhood but… you do seem familiar,” he tried thinking again but nothing came to mind, “(sigh) I’m sorry but I have to go, maybe well see each other again, I’ll see you around Nekogirl.” As he started walk the winds blow and a voice whispered to Hikari, “don’t feel so bad dear, he’s been away for so long that he had forgotten, he even became human again since he was no longer around you, that’s how it is,” said the voice in the wind.

Hikari made another face
"I am a neko!"she exclaims and trembles feeling tears run down her face when she sees he was trying very hard she could see he was sincere as he tried at that made her somewhat more relived, but she didn't understand why he didn't remember her.

When he walked off she was too shocked on what he called her neko girl and left so simply tears began to run down her face as she cried heavily.
"W-why can't he remember me.."she sniffled rubbing her eyes all this long she has waited and yet he forgets her completely thats when the wind speaks to her.
"Why does it have to be that way...will he ever remember me?"she asks curiously as she heads back and goes to the bakery seeing if they had any work she was misrable and people could see it now.

The wind blow while howling a long sigh to Hikari’s sorrows, and when she’d asked if Kiyo would eventually remember her it kept silent for a short while before answering, “he can and he will if you say by his side at all times, don’t leave him for a second if you want him to remember.” Claming her the wind gave Hikari a gentle breeze that felt soothing, it said a wind sprite has the ability to calm the sorrow of a people with it blessed breeze so Hikari should feel at ease, clam, refreshed, with a little since of happiness, “can you promise me Hikari… that you don’t tell your grandfather I told you, I wish you luck,” said the Wind Sprite before leaving.


Kiyo walked and found his way to his grandma’s house, she was quite surprised and shocked to see him, “Kiyo… what bring you here,” she asked, “I felt like visiting you and my home town, I don’t know… I just had this feel to come here. The grandmother let him in with a worried look while fixing up some tea, “how long do you plan to stay, the just the weekend right,” Kiyo could tell she’s very worried but why, “is something wrong grandma, I’m only planning to say here a week, I wasn’t going to intrude on you and eat you out of house, I’ll be staying at the Inn,” “nonsense I can’t have you stay at a hotel, what kind of grandmother would I be, I insisted… stay here you’ll stay out of trouble.” Then Kiyo got suspicious, “what do you mean by trouble,” he asked.

Hikari helped at the bakery and ended up buying two loafs of bread as she thought of Kiyo she felt more cheerful and realized. 'Stay at his side at all times...'she thought of what the wind told her as she stood up and hurried wondering where Kiyo would be, she didn't see his name at the inn so she guessed at his grandma's house she ran to the house with the bread in her hands as she knocked on the door eagerly her breathing somewhat ragged as her ears twitched.

"I'm sorry to bug you mam but is Kiyo here , I need to be with him please" Hikari asked in a pleding voice her eyes watering slightly again she wanted to see him again...

At the door a voice sound very familiar to the grandmother and when open it she looked with a look of fear once more, “H-Hikari what brings you here, I do have a guest so can you come back another time,” she’d asked but went she asked for Kiyo he’d heard his name being called and asked who it is, “who want’s to see me Grandma,” he ask while coming to the door, the grandma looked nervous and sigh, “I guess there was no way to keep those two apart for long,” she said to herself, “Kiyo… this is Hikari-chan, you two use to play together when you were very young remeber,” “yes we meet but I don’t recall us…” before he was able to get another word out Kiyo was smarked upside the head, “owww,” “that’s not the way to greet an old friend, be more polite and at least act like you know her, do you want to upset this poor girl. Please coming Hikari-chan I’ve just made tea so please join would you?”

Hikari ears lowered when the women said she had another guest over she was about to sigh and cry in small defeat , but thats when Kiyo came she wanted to pounce him again she smiled brightly and felt slightly incouraged. Hikari winced when he was smacked right in the head and she shuffled her feet
' I feel worse if he pretended to remember me.." Hikari thought when she invited her in she blushed feeling nervous.

"U-um ah sure mam , Thank you...you can have my breads as token of inviting me inside"she says kindly even thought that would be her food for the day and tomarrow.Handing it to the women and growls playfully pouncing Kiyo again. Straddling him as they landed on the ground.
"Please remember me soon Kiyo-Chan okay..."Hikari says looking at him with sad eyes.

“Do you still insist on calling me Ma’am Hikari-chan,” she asked, “please… call me grandma, granny or anything other then Ma’am seems so formal and cold,” the grandmother brought out another tea cup for her and urged Kiyo to pour Hikari some as she offered but only took a little of the bread as it was pasted out so it can be eaten with tea, “thank you Dear please don’t give this much I don’t want to take all of it.” Kiyo heard her playful growls as he looked to her, but as she pounced him Hikari made Kiyo spill his tea, his heart raced when he was straddled and for a moment some memories came flashing before his eyes, mostly it was image of Hikari smiling and laughing instead of the sad look in her eyes she’d look to him. “Hikari-chan not in the house, if you want to play like that then please do so outside,” the grandmother said, Kiyo sat up and tried hidding his bushed, “so you really are a Neko, I don’t think people act like cats, so… you said we know each other, alright… when did we meet for the first time,” he asked her.

Hikari whined when she was scolded by Kiyo grandma as she nodded getting up from him not noticing his blush.
"I'm sorry. Mam..I mean G-grandma"she said it was hard when she didn't even have her own grandma but somehow made her feel relived her ears perked when he called her a neko
"Y-yes I really am a neko nya "she purrs smiling brightly at him. When he asks her when they met she remembers that day clearly.
"It was ten years ago one year before you moved , I was five years old at the time people teased me about my ears so I ran off into the forest and fell hurting my knee and I started to cry really loud and you found me...you licked my knee at the time because you didn't have any spray after and then you grew neko ears and a tail I'm not sure why though...and for the next year we spent time with another but then you had to leave" she mumbles sadly as a small tear runs down her face as she wipes it drinking some tea.

To hear how they’ve meet sounded believable to Kiyo but yet again about him growing ears and a tail like her how can he believe that part, he touched the top of his head and his lower back, “if I did had cat ears and a tail I would definitely remember something like that,” he said to himself. “But I don’t remember anything like that, I just don’t remember anything at all,” Kiyo was beginning to get very frustrated as his head began to hurt, at that the grandmother gave Kiyo another whack on the head, “hush dear and let me explain, said the grandmother, “when you dad couldn’t find work he had to find work in the city so he took you and your mother with him, you do remember that Kiyo-kun?” He nodded but on the look of his face he just barely remembers, “and do you remember you accident, on your way to school you where hit by a car, you’ve been in a coma for three days and when you awaken you’d lost memories of your whole childhood or at least some,” it sounded plausible to Kiyo and yet it didn’t sound so true, that is because the grandmother is lying and hiding the real reason to how he lost his memories. Kiyo sigh heavily then kept quiet for a moment while thinking, “Grandma… if you don’t mind… I like to stay here for a few mouth, maybe a year,” he said and the Grandmother quiver, “rely Dear, but what about school and won’t your parents worry,” she asked. “I feel so lost Grandma and for some strange reason I was compiled to come here even though I don’t remember anything or living here, don’t you think I should stay and try to remember,” the grandmother sigh and replied: “you can only stay for the week Kiyo-kun but then you have to go home.” Kiyo was a little angry since his grandmother refueled him, “then I won’t impose on you anymore and find another place to stay, it was nice seeing you again Grandma and thank you for the tea,” with that said Kiyo stood up, picked up his bag and head outside, “I’m sorry for his bad behavior Dear, he’s just as bullheaded as his mother,” the grandmother said to Hikari.”

Hikari looked at how frustrated Kiyo was it made her feel sad 'he just needs time...if I force all this on him he may never even remember' Hikari thought sadly to herself and thats when his grandma whacked him she winced in slight pain as though she felt it herself as she explained he was in a coma for three days she smelled that it was a lie but she wanted to believe it was true but she found it hard to believe if he still had his neko ears he would hear the car and jump out of the way with the reflex's at least it was like that for her...

When he said he wanted to stay here a year her ears perked happily as she started to purr but his grandma refused him when she apologized she nodded.
"I remember his mom she was always' so kind and stubborned...thank you for the tea mam...grandma "she said with a quick bow and turned to leave as she chased after Kiyo with swift speed as she stopped in front of him her face flushed.
"K-Kiyo-Chan if you want you can stay where I live , I just live by myself so I don't need premission...that is if you want to you won't have to pay for anything"she says in a hopeful voice.

The grandmother sigh with sadness knowing that if Hikari continues to pursue Kiyo and that he regains his lost memories this will only end in tears, she wish she could have told them the truth but something or someone is keeping her from doing so but all she can do is say good-by to Hikari as she left and went after Kiyo, “either way if Kiyo remembers or not he’ll still be forced to leave, Hikari’s grandfather won’t allow them to be together,” she whispered to herself. Before Hikari had offered him a place to stay Kiyo didn’t have any choice, there were only three inns including one bed and breakfast in this town but none wouldn’t allow him vacations, it was as if every inn where told not to let Kiyo stay, this was all so frustrating to him, as if this whole town is ageist including his grandmother, “what’s up with this town,” he said it so angrily.” When it seem he was all out of luck until Hikari offered him a place to stay, “are you… sure about that,” he question since it will only be the two of them living with each other. “I don’t have anywhere else to go anyway so… yes.”
